A sense of locality within every Star Alliance Lounge is key to the passenger experience. Star Alliance Rio De Janeiro explores the birth and core of Carioca people, culture and sense of place.True Carioca flavor is related to style of life, informality, cordiality, sense of humor, happiness, landscape and mainly the people. The language of architecture emerges in a simple and direct way taking inspiration from iconic local architect “Oscar Neimeyer” and his Casa de Canoas project. Free flowing organic curves shape the circulation throughout while green vegetation penetrates the space giving the feeling of outdoor informal living.Strong emphasis and use of textured materials including warm verticle timbers and local Portuguese stone accented with traditional concrete cobogo block wall divisions. All these elements combined enhance each other, creating a truly unique and personal piece of architecture for passenger enjoyment.Key to Carioca design and the project was the selection of hand picked iconic Brazillian furniture present throughout the lounge including the legendary Sergio Rodrigues Parati chair, Zanine de Zanini serfa chair and Aida Boal Christina chair. The carefully selected pieces infuse culture, colour and sophistication into the overall look and feel. Strategic planned lounge zones including the runway viewing seats and the relaxing lounge suite allow for filtered sunlight while maintaining and maximizing views to the famous Sugar loaf mountain and iconic Statue of Jesus Christ.
